Caden Basile performs in Fairchild Chapel
Opening with the melodic first movement of Giuliani’s Sonatina, Op 71, No 2, he quickly established a comfortable command of the instrument.
He played three movements from Bach’s second Cello Suite next. His sound was big and clear, and his Courante was impressively quick.
Two works of Mertz followed, the much beloved Liebeslied and Tarantella. The audience erupted at the conclusion of the Tarantella’s rousing finale.
Caden played really expressively in Brouwer’s Elogio de la Danza. The audience reacted in kind.
He closed with the complete Suite del Recuerdo of Merlin. Caden really brought the piece to life, especially the final Joropo.
This was an excellent performance for a first time out. Caden, congratulations—we look forward to seeing what comes next!
