Collin Sterne's Sophomore Recital

Collin Sterne, a second-year classical guitar major at Oberlin, gave his second full recital in Fairchild Chapel, a perfect room for the solo guitar. He had been playing the theorbo some this semester, and to everyone's delight, included a set of pieces on this seldom-used but absolutely magnificent instrument. (See my article on the plucked instruments Oberlin owns for student use).

Collin, in addition to his theorbo pieces, played works of Bach, Regondi, Turina and Villa-Lobos. His confidence had never been higher and the progress he's made was easy for all to see. Congratulations Collin!

Here are some images from the evening; the full program is reproduced at the end. (And see Collin's Freshman Recital post here).

Note the prism-rainbow effect on the wall. Fairchild Chapel can be a magical place to play in.
