Nik Divall Wins Scholarship Competitions

Nik Divall Wins Scholarship Competitions

Nik won this year’s Tuesday Musical Club Classical Guitar Competition, a state-wide collegiate performance contest held in Akron each year. As a winner, he was asked to perform in the winner’s concert at The University of Akron this Sunday, a showcase featuring the winners in the other categories as well—piano, brass, percussion, voice, etc.

Guzzetta Recital Hall, my main working performance space for the many years I taught at the U of A, was full and the audience was highly enthusiastic and supportive. He played Agustin Barrios’ Vals Op. 8 No 4 and the Valseana and Toccata from Sergio Assad’s Aquarelle.

In addition, Nik won an academic award from Oberlin this year, the Ernest Hatch Wilkins Memorial Prize for academic excellence: a check for $1,000.

Congratulations, Nik, on a fantastic season, all around!!
