Aidan Wiley Lippke's Freshman Recital

As noted in some detail in my post on "More Student Recitals," I prefer encouraging students to demonstrate their newly-learned music on stage each year to hearing them in a dry classroom jury while I sit taking notes. Consequently, Most Oberlin guitar majors play full solo recitals every year they are in attendance. Aidan Wiley Lippke is no exception. 

Aidan learned from scratch, mastered and memorized more music than most first-year students have, and his recital was ample demonstration of the accomplishment. He played with beautiful tone, ample vibrato and considerable sense of phrasing a wide swath of repertoire, showing an impressive command of the instrument. Featuring works by Bach, Giuliani, Albeniz and Lauro, and played in one of our favorite rooms, Stull Recital Hall, Lippke's recital was an unqualified success.
