Fall 2016 Guitar Ensemble I

Fall 2016 Guitar Ensemble I

The first of our two Guitar Ensemble concerts this semester was a huge success. We presented a wide range of music and featured several members of other instrumental and vocal studios. It was extremely well-attended. Congratulations, all, for your inspiring performances! The full program is at the end of the post.

Rebecca Klein played on her recently acquired baroque guitar, two works by Matteis, assisted by the brilliant baroque violin and baroque cello playing of Sophie Davis and Heewon Lee.

Jonathan Bodian accompanied soprano Caitlin Aloia on three American songs by Walker:

Violinist Abigail Kakel-Garcia played a Paganini sonata with Collin Sterne:

Next, three songs from the massive Tedesco song cycle, The Divan of Moses-Ibn-Ezra, were performed by soprano Cara Bender and accompanied by Mohit Dubey. (I missed the on-stage photo--this is them back stage):

The program concluded with a rousing performance of the great Machado guitar duet, Imagens do Nordeste, as played by Jonathan Bodian (left) and Aidan Lippke:
